Honorary Tapping

Dear Florida Blue Key member,

As the end of the spring semester nears, it is once again time to begin the honorary tapping process.  Honorary tapping provides Florida Blue Key with the opportunity to recognize individuals who have contributed their time and directed their efforts to enhance the University of Florida.  By tapping such individuals, we are not only enhancing the integrity of the chapter, but the honorary members themselves value the recognition that they receive from Florida’s most prestigious leadership honorary.

It goes without saying that Florida Blue Key members who were tapped as students and those as honorary members have a different perspective of our organization.  This years honorary tapping class will have available to them a full calendar of events and personal interaction that will immerse them in all aspects of Florida Blue Key, from VIP access throughout Homecoming and Gator Growl to Legislative Day in Tallahassee.

As a member of Florida Blue Key, the chapter would appreciate your input as to whom the Honorary Tapping Committee should consider for membership.  Enclosed you will find the requirements necessary to qualify as a nomine.  Please note that the primary criterion for becoming an honorary member is service to the University of Florida.  If you know of an outstanding individual whom you feel is worthy of membership, please forward the attached application to the Honorary Tapping Chairman, Patrick Duffey, in the Florida Blue Key office before Monday, March 14^th, 2011, or visit our website, www.fbk.org.

The Honorary Tapping Committee will meet on Saturday, March 19^th, 2011 and the active chapter will vote on the individuals recommended by the committee the following week.  Additionally, the spring tapping banquet will take place the evening of April 16^th, 2011.  As always, the chapter welcomes your presence at the banquet and we hope that you can attend.
