Executive Board

President
Craig P. Thompson

Craig Thompson, a third year law student from Pensacola, Florida, is currently serving in his second term as President of Florida Blue Key.  Prior to attending law school, he graduated from the University of Florida with a B.A. in Management, a minor in History, and a M.S. in Entrepreneurship.  He is a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and is currently serving on the board of the Intercollegiate Athletic Committee.  He has previously served as President of the University of Florida Interfraternity Council, was selected as a J. Wayne Reitz Scholar, and is an inductee of the University of Florida Hall of Fame.  Prior to being elected President, he served as Florida Blue Key's Vice President of Alumni Affairs, Honorary Tapping Chairman and was awarded the Jason H. Cherner Award.  Following his graduation from law school he will begin his career with the law firm of Berger Singerman in Miami, Florida.

S. Whitney Smith 

S. Whitney Smith is a second year law student from Tallahassee, Florida. Before attending law school, Whitney graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S. in Food and Resource Economics with a minor in Agricultural and Natural Resource Law. At the University of Florida, Whitney has served as an Assistant Supervisor of Elections, Constitutional Review Commissioner, Law College Councilwoman, and member of the ACCENT staff, and was a member of Kappa Delta. She has previously served as the Florida Blue Key Coffee Table Book Director, Banquet Director, Branding Committee Chair, and as an Executive At Large.

Vice President of Alumni
Rachel Fackender

Rachel Fackender is a fourth year Advertising Major from Tallahassee, Florida. As a junior, she transferred from Florida State University and quickly became involved on campus. Rachel was tapped into Florida Blue Key in 2010 and has previously served as the Chairwoman for The O’Connell Society, the official endowment fund for Florida Blue Key. At the University of Florida, Rachel has also participated in Student Government, ACCENT Speakers Bureau, Dance Marathon and Kappa Delta Sorority.

Treasurer
Wes Maul

Wesley W. Maul is a second year law student from Orlando, FL. Prior to attending law school, Wes graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S.B.A in Economics, focusing on International Trade and Development. At the University of Florida, Wes has served as an intern to the Office of the Vice President and General Counsel, President of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, Assistant Student Body Treasurer, Treasurer of ACCENT Speakers Bureau, Florida Cicerone, and member of the UF Budget Council and Reitz Union Board of Managers. Wes was tapped into Florida Blue Key in the Spring of 2008. He has previously served as Florida Blue Key’s Assistant Treasurer, Vice President of Membership, Chairman of the 5-Year Planning Committee, and a recurring member of the Evaluations Committee.

Secretary
Laser Kaplan 

Laser Kaplan is a graduate student currently studying Applied Mathematics. Laser graduated in Spring 2011 from the University of Florida with a B.S. in Mathematics and Physics. He was born in Bronxville, NY, and now currently resides in Wellington, FL. While an undergraduate at UF, Laser was involved with Gator Growl and Homecoming, ACCENT Speakers Bureau, Student Government Cabinet, and Alpha Epsilon Pi. He also served previously as an Executive at Large for Florida Blue Key. Laser plans on pursuing a doctoral degree in physics after this school year.

Divisions Coordinator
Grace Faulkenberry 

Grace Faulkenberry is a fourth year Political Science and Sociology major from Columbia, South Carolina. In her years at UF Grace has been involved in ACCENT Speaker’s Bureau serving as Assistant Director of Advertising and Vice-Chair of Promotions. Grace has also served as Administrative Assistant as well as Associate General Chair for The University’s Homecoming and as Executive Director of Florida Blue Key’s Legislative Day. Currently, Grace is the Executive Director of Communications for the Young Achievers Foundation, a locally founded non-profit organization; Marketing Director of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority; and Florida Blue Key’s Division’s Coordinator. Faulkenberry was tapped in Florida Blue Key in 2010.

Executive at Large
Dana Somerstein 

Dana Somerstein is a second year law student from Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Prior to entering law school she attended undergrad at the University of Florida earning a BA in Business and a minor in Education. Dana is currently serving on the Law College Council Executive Board and as UF Law Trial Team member. In her undergraduate years, Dana served as the External Affairs Agency Head, as a Florida Cicerone, on the Reitz Union Board of Managers, and as a member of Alpha Epsilon Phi. Dana was tapped into Florida Blue Key in Spring 2008 and has been honored to previously serve the chapter on the Tapping and Evaluations Committees and as a three time Executive Member At Large.
